Learn how to install MOON Ponts North and Black Bridges to connect your amplifier sections. Step-by-step guide with common mistakes to avoid.
Quick answer
MOON Ponts North and Black Bridges are precision jumper sets that connect the preamp output to the power amp input on compatible MOON components. Install them correctly to avoid hum, noise, or poor contact.
Which bridge fits your MOON component
Ponts North work exclusively with North Collection models. They are silver-finished and designed to sit between two North Collection devices on a shelf or rack. Black Bridges are for the Evolution series (600, 700, and 800 models) and are intended to bridge two chassis together, not to sit between a shelf and the component.
Both sets use aluminum construction with elastomer pads that prevent scratching and absorb vibration. The four triangular feet in each set create a stable mechanical and electrical connection.
What the bridges do (and don't do)
These bridges replace standard jumper cables or short RCA links between the pre-out and main-in jacks on a MOON integrated amplifier or preamp-power amp combination. They provide a rigid, low-resistance signal path and mechanical damping. They do not convert a single-wire speaker terminal to bi-wire capability. If you are looking for a bi-wire speaker setup, you need a different accessory.
Step-by-step installation
- 1. Power off and disconnect: Turn off both MOON components and unplug them from AC power. Remove any existing jumpers, cables, or feet from the pre-out and main-in jacks on the rear panel. Working with live equipment can damage the components or cause injury. Always power down first.
- 2. Identify the correct bridge set: Confirm your component model: North Collection requires Ponts North (silver). Evolution 600, 700, or 800 series require Black Bridges. The sets are not interchangeable. Check the underside of your component for the model number if unsure. Mixing sets can cause poor fit or electrical mismatch. Use only the set designed for your series.
- 3. Position the bridges: Place the four bridges on a flat, stable surface with the elastomer pads facing up. Align them under the top component's four corners so the pads contact the chassis. The bottom component should sit directly on the shelf or rack. For Black Bridges, never place them between a component and a shelf. They must connect two devices only.
- 4. Stack and connect: Gently lower the top component onto the bridges. Ensure each bridge sits squarely under a corner. The bridges will self-align to the pre-out and main-in jacks on the rear of the bottom component. No cables are needed. If the jacks do not align, the bridges may be upside down or the wrong set. Do not force the connection.
- 5. Power on and test: Plug both components back into AC power. Power on the source or preamp first, then the amplifier. Play a familiar track at low volume and listen for hum, buzz, or intermittent sound. If you hear noise, power down and recheck the bridge orientation and contact points. A clean signal path should be silent between tracks. Hum or buzz usually indicates poor contact or incorrect bridge placement.
Product facts
- Ponts North: Ponts North are a set of four triangular aluminum extension feet with elastomer pads, available in silver, for North Collection products only. If you own a North Collection MOON component, these bridges provide a clean, integrated connection without loose cables.

Ponts North - Ponts (noirs): Black Bridges are a set of four triangular aluminum extension feet with elastomer pads, in black, for Evolution series models 600, 700, and 800. They bridge two devices only, not a device to a shelf. Using Black Bridges between a component and a shelf can cause instability or poor contact. They are designed exclusively for device-to-device stacking.
