Using the CRM-3 Remote with Your MOON System

Quick answer

The CRM-3 remote works with all MOON 2-channel infrared devices, including most older models. Setup is straightforward: insert batteries, point at the component, and press any key.

Setting up the CRM-3 remote

1. Insert batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the CRM-3. Insert two fresh AA batteries, matching the polarity markings inside. Close the cover securely. A common mistake is using old or mismatched batteries, which can cause intermittent operation. Replace both batteries at the same time.
2. Aim and test: Point the CRM-3 directly at the infrared sensor window on your MOON component, usually a small dark lens on the front panel. Press any function key, such as Volume Up or Input Select. If nothing happens, check that nothing is blocking the sensor (e.g., a cabinet door or thick glass). Also ensure the component is powered on and not in standby.
3. Verify all functions: Cycle through every button: power, volume, mute, input selection, and any playback controls if your component supports them. The CRM-3 sends the same commands as the original remote. Some older MOON models may not have all functions (e.g., direct input naming). This is normal; the remote will simply not respond for unsupported commands.
